Today is Election Day in the US and I urge everyone to exercise their right to vote. What has this to do with this golf blog???
Simply put…everything! This blog is centered on helping women feel empowered and welcome in the game of golf whether it is for business purposes, social outlets or escapes from the day-to-day grind. Women fought and won the right to vote by speaking out and getting involved. That is exactly what we need to do to gain access to all of the wonderful things golf can do for us and what we can do for the game of golf.
Am I equating the importance of a national election with golf? Not really. No sport, regardless of its popularity, can or should be as important as choosing the next leaders of our country, state, county or city. However, if we default on our privileges, whether it be voting or asserting ourselves in a positive way for entrance into an arena that has been dominated by others, then we essentially give up our voice and our opportunity to move forward.
Standing on the sidelines complaining but not willing to take part is not anything I personally want to be associated with or tolerant of. So enjoy your freedom, your rights and for your own sake – GET INVOLVED…. GO VOTE…..GET IN THE GAME!!
