Top LPGA Golfer Cristie Kerr Hosts Fifth Annual
Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Golf Classic
LPGA tour members, athletes and celebrities joined Cristie Kerr at Liberty National in
Jersey City to raise money and promote breast health education
NEW YORK – Birdies for Breast Cancer — a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness in the fight against the disease – held its Fifth Annual Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Golf Classic on Friday, August 14, 2009 at Liberty National Golf Course in Jersey City, NJ. The event featured a golf tournament with some of the best female players in the world, followed by a dinner prepared by celebrity chef Todd English, a silent auction, and poker tournament. Birdies for Breast Cancer was founded in 2003 by top LPGA golfer Cristie Kerr.
All proceeds from the 2009 Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Golf Classic will be dedicated to establishing the Cristie Kerr Women’s Health Center at LibertyHealth’s Jersey City Medical Center.

This is just one of many examples of how professional golfers use the game of golf to give back to their communities and to their charities. It’s hard to believe that Congress looks at golf in today’s world as a four-letter word…that doesn’t begin with the letter ‘g’!
