Good post, Sherry. I really wish I could argue some of your points--but I can't. You hit it right on the head.

Dave,

You hit the nail on the head when it comes to support of the game with women vs men. It's not JUST that there are more men playing than women. It's got a lot to do with women 'subscribing' to a number of the golf myths that have been in play for years and years. I think the more women realize that you don't have to be a great athlete to play the game and that there are some great role models out there on both the Duramed and LPGA Tours (and let's throw in The Legends Tour to be complete), the more they will appreciate what the game of golf has to offer them as a player and/or a spectator.

Your support helps carry this message as well and I personally want to thank you for all that you do!

Hi Sherry
I have found (sadly) that women are also lagging behind men in their support of women's professional golf. At least that has been my observation over several years of following the Duramed Futures Tour. It is very evident in the numbers of men vs. women amateurs who sign up to play in the pro-ams at Futures events.
As a man, I enjoy playing with and watching the great young women pros on the tour. I would think that more women golfers would want to be a part of the experience. Of course, there aren't as many women golfers, but I would think they would want to support their gender in greater numbers.
I don't have any answers except to keep promoting the game to women, and to let them know that you don't have to be a great golfer to thoroughly enjoy the sport.
